After three hours in Balduq I'm eager to find out where #Ys9 will take its story. Hopefully a patch to address performance issues (and the button mapping...) will be out soon. 
I'm having an absolute blast with #Ys9, 20+ hours deep now. Exploration is rewarding and fun thanks to the Monstri's abilities. The story contains both substantial world-building and winks to older instalments in the series. Great dungeon design as well.
I'm a little concerned - and this is not a dig at #Ys9's quality - about the homogenisation of Falcom IPs. Whereas Ys VIII felt as a traditional Ys story unnecessarily split into chapters, Ys IX's chapters even follow the structure, flow and pacing of Legend of Heroes chapters.
While I enjoy the story in #Ys9, I feel there's more emphasis on narrative than actual adventuring this time. This realisation struck me when I finally got to explore the field - and adjacent mountain in the following chapter - outside the walls of Balduq.
