Bengal...fading away.
I am not Bengali but from Bengal .I love My state not less than a Bengali . It pains me to see the desperate lows that Bengal is touching. Almost every Bengali who
gets an opportunity to leave Bengal, does so. Gleefully. 👇1
And, in nearly 95% of cases, never to return. It used to be d seat of knowledge ,a hub of industrial activity, the capital of culture & a prolific producer of sportsmen.
In short, it was the most vibrant place there ever was in d entire country.
Then, it all changed.🙏🏼2
"Bengal has been on a decline ever since 1963, since Bidhan Roy passed away. He reinforced d foundation of d state .Got d
Durgapur & Alloy Steel Plant, Chittaranjan Locomotives, India’s 1st satellite town in Kalyani, Digha Beach Resort, expanded d engineering industry👇3
set up engineering, tchnology medical, managemnt & other institutes.Calcutta & Jadavpur
used to be t prime univs. in India those days. Bengal hv d IIM, IIT, d
Operations Research school, Bengal Engineering College, besides, of course, Presidency College, SXC, Scottish Church👇4
It was the HQ of Birla, JK & Thapar, and Tata were in d process of moving there. D Grand Tata centre
was built for that purpose. Most
of their investment was in Jamshedpur. Most foreign
companies had their India HQ in Calcutta, had d highest no: of
International flights 👇5
& then Ashok Kumar Nite happened in Feb 1968. Women were dragged
out & their naked dead raped bodies were found in & around d lake over the next 2 days.
The CPI M leaders called it “d rise of d proletariat against d bourgeoisie” & justified it.
Calcutta started emptying.👇6
Soon after #AdityaBirla was dragged out of his car btn GPO & RBI, opposite Writers Building, thrashed, clothes torn, stripped down to his undergarments & made to walk like dt to his office at 15 India Exchange Place wd a crowd
roaring in laughter and jeering. 👇7
He went home and took a flight to Bombay, never to return. So did JK
Thapar, most entrepreneurs & MNCs, Professionals , intellectuals
artists. That's what communists wanted. Those who hd
nowhere to go were threatened by goons & movements like Amra Bangali to keep silent.👇8
That had bcm d political culture of Bengal.Thereafter political
parties irrespective of d hue kept following d same & unfortunately will keep doing so bcz d best manner to remain in power is not to permit empowerment. D ppl r
strangely watching silently, for 55 yrs now &👇10
and will do so unfortunately for another 55 years. Those disagree
migrate out to other parts of India; to other countries.
Mass exodus.
Once, the capital of India,....truly sinking
Bengal! 😭😭😭
