It’s tempting to view the whistleblower as a fortuitous event that dropped into Pelosi’s lap, but keep in mind that this “windfall” was part of the strategy and was only possible because Pelosi didn’t rush into a failed impeachment months ago.
Pelosi’s plan was to follow Trump’s money and show he was a compromised criminal. A stated component of that plan was that a long investigation would give Trump time to “self-impeach.” Not saying she knew precisely what crime Trump would commit, but she did assume he’d do it.
Back in May, Pelosi said something that made a lot of people angry. She said Trump was “becoming self-impeachable.”

Lots of people screamed that this was utter nonsense, particularly Sarah Kendzior.

2/ The best way to understand this official guidance is the following: FinCEN cares deeply about your financial privacy, so long as nothing is private from FinCEN.
3/ Why? FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) is the bureau of the Treasury tasked with preventing terrorist financing, money laundring, and other nasty stuff. They're happy with you living your life as you see fit, so long as they get the data they need to stop bad guys.

The Moscow-born Sater was the managing director of the Bayrock Group, a real estate conglomerate, while the 👉🏼Trump SoHo building in Manhattan was being built.
