A Settled Status without any physical proof. How would you feel if you had no document to show to employers, landlords, banks? Discrimination has already started. It’s become harder to rent or find a job for EU citizens. 2/7
Settled Status is set in secondary legislation, so open to changes without parliamentary approval. What happened to the Windrush generation? How can we feel safe? We could easily be next. 3/7
Tell us more. Why are our data shared with third parties? Why do we have to accept this breach of our privacy? 4/7
And besides everything else, people have been #inlimbo for more than three years, treated like cattle.5/7
The Referendum campaign and what followed have created a difficult atmosphere for many of us. Some do not dare speak their own language in public for fear of being targeted. Others have suffered from racist or xenophobic abuse. 6/7
So please do not come and tell us this are “myths” or “scaremongering” when people are scared for good reasons. We have every right to raise our issues and we will keep speaking up. 7/7
