Ok, I’m going to unpack this attempt to dismiss market power concerns over Google and Facebook.
/ “Bytes” is a wholely irrelevant metric and anyone on the business side wouldn’t even know what you are talking about.
/ % of referrals is relevant because it is pointing out that two companies control a large % of business that comes through their door.
/ Your analysis doesn’t even mention what % of publisher prog advertising revenues go through Google or Facebook, where Google or Facebook take a % cut. It’s a big # (don’t have it handy, but ~ > 70% of whole market)
/ Do you know that when Publishers write a check to Google on a monthly basis, for the ability to sell their ads in Google’s ad exchange and associated software-that Google controls-, they don’t even know what % of revenues they share with Google? Google doesn’t disclose.
/ Who has so much power that they don’t even need to disclose their % cut or price?
/ Also, each time a publisher page loads, what % then queries Google or Facebook servers during the page loads? About 98+% of every page load. That stat is not even in Warren or your analysis. That is 1000% relevant.
