Woke up few times last night thinking about the poor lad I witnessed being beaten and arrested. Managed to flip the video now so going to try to explain what happened. First, I don’t go to the front lines, more on edges offering moral support. 16.43 was on bridge watching this
Afterwards, I thought I would walk over to the original Lennon Wall, which was in bits.
As I walked down the stairs the police charged and protesters broke in a run. I noticed a guy on my right being grabbed by police.
About six police then jumped him despite the fact he wasn’t resisting at all. So I ran down (like an idiot) to try to stop them. They were not happy about being filmed and tried to shoo me away a few times.
I backed off but didn’t leave and they eased up leaving just one cop to arrest him. But as I watched and waited, the boy appeared to lose consciousness, perhaps from the knee in his back or an earlier injury during arrest.
As the flipped him over I could see more with my eyes than I’ve caught on camera but his face was covered in blood and his eyes were open with a deadened glaze staring straight ahead.
As I said at the time, I sound panicked because I genuinely thought the police killed him. These stills give a better idea of what I was looking at. He looked dead. It was horrifying.
Other police tried to cover up what was going on as they obviously knew it was wrong. Another protester was then dragged over, also bloody and dazed. I shouted for their name and one of the cops started yelling and waving his baton at me.
The second protester was too injured to reply but maybe someone can recognise them from this freeze frame.
I didn’t leave until I could see what happened to the first unconscious guy. Thankfully he regain consciousness but wasn’t shown even a modicum of humanity from the police. I hope someone can recognise the kids and let their families know.
I don’t know why I’m shouting about honour 🙄 we all know now they don’t have any, but I was shaking so much, wanted them to stop without being arrested myself, and thought it might prick their conscience.
A Reddit thread has been shared with me showing the protester being beaten to the ground by police from another angle. Further shows the unnecessary violence used.

I'm the 'blue object' coming down the stairs in the background. reddit.com/r/HongKong/com…
