Fed. judge dismisses lawsuit from NY, NJ, CT, MD seeking to hold the SALT cap in the GOP's tax reform unconstitutional under the Tenth Amendment.

The Court rejected two main arguments from the states: (1) that the SALT deduction cap will disrupt their ability to set tax policy how they want; and (2) that the SALT cap targets certain states for disfavored treatment.
Somebody asked me on here the other day when I was talking about THE FEDERALIST No. 65 whether any judges actually refer to the Federalist Papers.

Rep. @DevinNunes has filed yet another abusive lawsuit to harass journalists who cover him. This time he's targeting Ryan Lizza and Esquire.

Well, there you have it. The ICIG rejects in strong terms the "form changed," "rules changed," and "no urgent concern" accusations that were made by Trump followers earlier today.

Definitely read the full statement.
Of especial note, the "first-hand knowledge" issue goes to credibility and whether an urgent concern would be passed on, NOT an independent requirement for making a filing in the first place.
And, of course, the complainant here said he or she had both first-hand and second-hand knowledge, so it's weird that Trump followers got so stuck on this part of the story anyway.

1. HOT DAMN! Judge tells NYT to pound sound AND #QAnon claims are CONFIRMED BY THE JUDGE'S RULING!

NYT / Kenneth Vogel sued the DOJ in a FOIA request for "(1) the European Center for a Modern Ukraine; (2) the Ukrainian Party of Regions; (3) Inovo BV and Flynn Intel Group; and...
2. ...(4) the Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative Foundation and/or Prevezon Holdings.

The DOJ denied the request so the NYT and Kenneth Vogel challenged the DOJ decision.

Yesterday ( 7/22) the judge stood up for @GenFlynn AND the DOJ and told the NYT to shove it.

Manafort's sentence is an example of a broader problem: white collar crimes (e.g. fraud, money laundering) just aren't taken seriously. Here are some other examples:
In one extreme case from last May, a banker who facilitated a multibillion-dollar laundering scheme received a 32-month sentence. Federal prosecutors argued for 20 years and the sentencing guidelines called for 105 years: justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/t…, nysd.uscourts.gov/cases/show.php…

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against President Trump and his Trump International Hotel that claimed the hotel gets an unfair business advantage from its affiliation with the president.
Judge Richard Leon of the D.C. District Court wrote in a ruling Monday that plaintiff "failed to state a claim for unfair competition."

Leon said he cannot bar public figures, including Trump, from "taking equity in the companies they promote."
