Honestly, The Magician's Nephew ruins the character of Professor Kirke.

If you don't read it, he's like, "Why assume your sister is lying about another world when you know her to be honest?"

If you do read it, it's, "Oh, she's seen another world? Big deal. I've been to THREE."
It also makes Narnia explicitly the story of Digory Kirke, because he was there at its creation, had a direct hand in its fall into sin and an indirect one in its redemption, and was there at its destruction.

Which is neat symmetry, I guess? But seems kind of... aggrandizing.
Anyway. If you're reading the series, or introducing it to your children, I highly suggest original publication, not chronological, order. The re-ordering was a stunt to sell new collected editions, justified by pointing to Lewis not wanting to argue with a child who wrote to him
It won't be unfathomable when read in chronological (or any other) order, but there are aside references in the narration that will be out of place since the Narrator assumes you're reading them in the order they were written.
And you/your audience will miss some of the intended joy of discovery in both The Lion et al and The Magician's etc.
....the more I look at this tweet, the more I am seeing Professor Kirke as played by Neil Patrick Harris, doing his Count Olaf.
