Abortion is not only good, it is holy.

(This is a subtweet at the asshole supporters of the predatory, racist, violent anti-choice pregnancy “clinic” who screenshot a Facebook conversation and mailed it to my boss in the name of saving babies for Jesus or whatever.)

If you ever want a Jesus-lovin’ Christian af nice round soft maternal lady to tell you why your decision to terminate a pregnancy can be absolutely the most Godly choice and to pray a prayer of thanksgiving for that choice with you? Shout.

Thanks be to God for medical technology that allows for a safe termination of pregnancy. Thanks be to God for access to that technology. So much of the world doesn’t and hasn’t and the amount of sheer misery in human history caused by that fact rivals war and disease.

Every bit of scripture I’ve read fifty times (all of it) leads me to believe that the overarching directive of God is for us to liberate each other. Education liberates people. Forced pregnancy oppresses them. Sorry, anti-choice activists, the sin here is on y’all.

I’m an effective teacher whose students are now going to be stuck with weeks or months of subs while they try to replace me. Time that, for adult learners, doesn’t come cheap. Not holy. Not liberative. Sin, sin, sin.

I’ll be fine. Will they? That’s on y’all. I know you see this.

But yeah. “No one is pro-abortion,” say the centrists, trying to bridge an impossible chasm. I am! Abortion is good and great and wonderful and holy and Of God. Abortion saves lives! Abortion prevents misery! Abortion services are critical for human liberation! Yay abortion!

I’ve never had an abortion but I have PCOS and weird ovulation situations so it’s honestly a bit of a surprise that I managed to get one whole baby out of my uterus but I sure am glad to have always had the choice and means to get one if I needed one. And I’m glad you do, too!

Abortion is great for people who made a mistake and people who had accidents and people who desperately want to carry the fetus into babyhood but cannot and people who’ve never had an abortion and people who’ve had five and people who don’t have the money and people who do.

It’s great for people who just plain don’t like kids and it’s great for people who want them but not yet and it’s great for people who have three and can’t afford more and it’s great for victims of crimes and people who changed their mind and people who can’t miss that much work.

All abortions are life-saving abortions.
