American exceptionism & the myth that the U.S. can't or won't exhibit the same behaviors or beliefs as fascist, racist, countries & their leaders do, is false. We are seeing evidence of fascism in our current administration.

Characteristics of Fascism:
-Powerful & Continuing Nationalism
-Disdain for the Recognition of. Human Rights
-Identification of Enemies/ Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
-Supremacy of the Military
-Rampant Sexism
-Controlled Mass Media
-Obsession with National Security

Characteristics of Fascism continued:
-Religion and Government are Intertwined.
-Corporate Power is Protected
-Labor Power is Suppressed
-Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
-Obsession with Crime and Punishment
-Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
-Fraudulent Elections

Ask yourself do these characteristics of fascism sound familiar at all, or in part, as it relates to our current administration? And to the far-right? Trump accuses his critics, & political opponents of that which he, his family, & his cronies are guilty of (corruption & lying).

He uses propaganda & enforces his lies & propaganda by repeating the same statements over & over & having his sycophants in his administration & on Fox News repeat those lies using the same rhetoric & statements.He also identifies what people value (ex: patriotism, religion etc),

and then uses those things to claim falsely that those things are being somehow taken or threatened by those who criticize him- saying they're unpatriotic, anti-american, attacking/replacing religious beliefs, or are "fake news"/ lying etc. It's important to keep these

characteristics of fascism in mind as you hear/read the rhetoric coming out of this administration & the White House & those that are complicit in their support of trump.
