& on Trump's 7/25 call with Zelensky: " I listened in on the call...I was concerned by the call. I did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen." Col. Vindman says he followed up by taking his concerns to his chain of command.

Law school 101: Hearsay is an out of court statement, offered to prove the truth of what was said. Although the general rule is that hearsay is inadmissible, there are a lot of exceptions to the rule. rulesofevidence.org/article-viii/r…
In addition to business records made in the ordinary course of business (transcripts of calls) falling w/in an exception to the rule, statements of a party/opponent in a legal proceeding & his/her agent are not considered hearsay. rulesofevidence.org/article-viii/r…
It is not clear that the rules of evidence would apply to impeachment proceedings. It’s up to the rules the Senate uses as the Constitution doesn’t specify. But hearsay may not be the cure all some GOP reps seem to think it is.

this morning’s news is good news & we owe thanks to the president who authorized the raid & the people who took the risks to make it happen. Trump must also follow his advisors’ lead in tailoring his rhetoric so ISIS cannot use it effectively for recruitment propaganda.
Predictably, he went off script, using language that will show up in recruiting videos & mispronouncing Al-Baghdadi’s name. Thanking Russia & Turkey before our sevicemen & women too.
Now, we’re down to counting how many small but important details he’ll reveal that will leave the career people shaking their heads.

Oral argument is underway before the 2nd Circuit in Trump v. Vance & you can listen in on @cspan. Trump argues he cannot be investigated or prosecuted while President, so country DA in NY cannot use a grand jury to obtain evidence including his taxes.
@cspan A Judge is now asking Trump lawyers why, even assuming the President is immune from indictment, he should be immune from investigation. "This is just a grand jury subpoena."
@cspan Judge is now questioning about the opinion in the Nixon tapes case. The position Trump takes is directly in contradiction to that ruling of the Supreme Court that Nixon had to hand over tapes from the oval office.
