is not the same as "private vs govt"

-- aided schools have a much lower fee structure than regular pvt-unaided schools

** seems like this wasn't even aided but given some kind of land grant perhaps.

Aided schools can't collect any fees except for special fees - festivals, functions, exams etc.

Got absorbed and distracted by a thread - only to figure out that it was created by a Twitter bot. Was about to express irritation at how such tweets clearly need to be marked as such. And then the epiphany and self-introspection 😅
Nowhere close to being capable of actually creating threads (except where a blogpost is stored & injested & split into tweets) - but still. Aware how even images, video clips, RTs and likes and quips/short-quotes can be a big distraction. Wonder what % of activity is bot-driven.

found a sphere at the office!🔴

here's a quick demo of metallic reflections~

note how the color of the window's reflection on the sphere changes
even though the sphere is metallic red, it doesn't exclusively reflect red and absorb the rest, it depends on the angle

at a high grazing angle - only reds reflect

at a low grazing angle - all wavelengths reflect, hence all colors in the light from the window is preserved!
by the way - this happens with transparent materials as well, they too reflect light at low grazing angles!

for instance, look at the difference in transparency of the water at the shore vs the perfect mirror at the much lower angles further away

Like Taxes and Death, for Investors "Management Fees" is something that cannot be avoided. But Fees not only deters investors but actually destroys a large part of capital gains when investments are held for a very long period.
Mutual Funds charge a % fee on assets they manage on your behalf - if you invested through a Distributor, this comes to around 2% per year. If you invested on your own, its still around 1% to 1.25% per year.
A way to reduce the fees is to invest in ETF's which charge a much lower fee owing to fact that the stock selection and the weights are decided by a Index with the fund having to only mimic the same.

Just for a bit of balance when I was trying to get out of special ‘schooling’ in the 1980s none of the local public schools in Campbelltown NSW would take me. Only a local Marist school was accessible & made the effort #schools #education
The principal of one public school looked at me, snorted and said ‘well what are we going to do with this little problem hey?’
The second public school said I’d have to skip maths & science classes and do them in a corridor or the library

3/ Nobody wants losses however they do have a few advantages. Losses on investments that you’ve held for less than twelve months can be written off against capital gains; losses on investments held longer than twelve months can be deducted from ordinary income.
