I met @cmkshama many years ago in Seattle, when she was running for the first time for City Council against an entrenched corporatist Democratic incumbent. I've rarely been more impressed with a political candidate at any level. Horrific that Amazon succeeded in unseating her.
@cmkshama Many people saying that the vote count isn't over and @cmkshama still has a chance to win. I hope they're right. Everything I've seen from the Seattle media & analysts is that the Amazon-backed corporatist won but I hope that's wrong.
@cmkshama Wow, great news (beyond Lula): @cmkshama, one of the more impressive US politicians I've met, appeared to lose her City Council seat in Seattle after Amazon poured huge money into defeating her. Now she's pulled ahead in the count seattletimes.com/seattle-news/p…

And that’s to say nothing of the monumental & blatantly sexist condescension that a female journalist is controlled by Bernie in what she can say.

But the most amazing part is this pig maligned her for this completely mild, undeniably factual report:

@folha Como sempre: LJ e Moro acreditavam que eles próprios eram a lei, ou seja, estavam acima da lei, incluindo os tribunais acima deles. Foi isso que tornou esse processo tão corrompido.

1/ The general crypto narrative seems to be drifting back to bitcoin maximalism, so I wanted to share a few thoughts on bitcoin relative to the rest of the crypto market:
2/ BTC has clearly outperformed most other cryptoassets by a wide margin YTD. Expecting that this will always be the case (or that holding only BTC is the right move) strikes me as foolish.
3/ Why? First off, there is a strong recency bias in the crypto community (and in the investing world at large, tbh). Just because something has been the case lately does not mean that will persist in perpetuity.

1. Why do we care so much about this? I’ll explain, briefly, why it touches a nerve. There are two types of Nazi comparisons. One is “Trump is Hitler.” This bothers ppl but it does not make the Jewish community recoil, genuinely pained.
2. I think that’s what caught AOC so off guard. She was used to Democrats comparing Republicans to Nazis her entire adult life (mine too), so she feels like she’s being targeted here because of who she is, not what she said. I get it. But it’s wrong. Here’s why.
3. It’s because she made the second kind of Nazi comparison: that which compares victims. And here’s where you get into trouble. We carry around the stories and scars of what happened to our family. It’s recent, the wounds are still fresh, and it’s all very real.

55 years ago today Cassius Clay fought Sonny Liston for the first time. He had talked promoters, fans and media into scheduling the bout, though he'd only been 22 a month, & had a close decision w/ light heavy Doug Jones, & been dropped by Henry Cooper.
Clay was an 8-1 'dog. Only three of 46 sportswriters picked the chatty kid who had looked so unimpressive vs. journeypersons Jones & Cooper not long before. Liston, for his part, had dispatched Patterson in 2:06 & 2:10 in the 1st round in their two meetings.
Clay-Liston I was nearly cancelled. Live gate sales stalled with rumors & sightings of Malcolm X in Clay's camp. Promoter Bill McDonald asked Cash to denounce Malcolm & declare he wasn't a member of The Nation Of Islam. Malcolm had just been suspended for his comments re- JFK
