2 Cherry’s racist #poppyrant attack on immigrants roused his boss, Bart Yabsley, to a sitting position from which he authorized a @RogersMediaPR statement claiming that someone (“we”) at @Sportsnet had “spoken with Don about the severity of the issue.” 2/x

3 One imagines the end of this call: “Yeah well none of it matters now Don” crack splutz “you’re fired” bip bip bip “Don? Don? Still there?”

However it went down, @rogersmedia, #youpeople are still on the hook to deliver that message. You see, you have shat where you eat. 3/x

4 In Canada, whatever you think of immigration policy or #wexit or the @liberal_party, you don’t judge a person by whether or not they happen to be wearing a #poppy at a particular time, in a particular place. No one does that. Even if they say they do. 4/x

The people your customer service policies haven’t pissed off are pissed off, and Cherry did it. Wrong about immigrants. Wrong about poppies. Wrong about people & immigrants & poppies. 5/x

7 Yes, @RogersMedia, your @CoachsCornerDC has messed up this whole poppy thing. I wish to honour my family members’ military and civilian service, and the heroism of all the veterans and civilians who were called to service and sacrifice with orders fair and foul. 7/x

8 I don’t see the poppy as a symbol of geopolitical hits to the head. I don’t want to have to renounce it in solidarity with the immigrant targets of your @CoachsCornerDC, @rogersmedia. But neither do I want people to think about your odious Suit Man when they see my poppy. 8/x

9 So, @RogersMedia , I would really appreciate it it if you would let @CoachsCornerDC know he has become surplus to requirements. Maybe immigrants would consider that partial restitution, at least, for the loathsome remark that hundreds of thousands of viewers saw and heard. 9/x

10 The poppy might then be cleansed of the stench of racism, @RogersMedia. Then any Canadian could choose to wear it according to belief and conscience - not as a flagpost on a battlefield only your @CoachsCornerDC can see. 10/10
