Saying all possible candidates that could emerge ahead of Joe are “more vulnerable” than he is still relies on a narrative that says Joe’s the least vulnerable b/c he’s a crossover appeal White man (even despite the current R smear campaign and his history of losing D primaries).
@Verbalobe Technically the whole primary has been structured around a narrative that says the most electable candidates are the ones who can appeal to White voters who are the direct targets of the GOP smear campaign and are receiving the bulk of misinformation about Joe Biden.
@Verbalobe I think the whole thing is instructive not just b/c of what it tells us about their strategy for Biden but also for what it tells us about their strategy for any candidate that’s purported to be a threat to Trump’s hold on the *White vote* specifically.
@Verbalobe Biden’s notoriety w/the Black community is there to a degree, but ultimately it’s gonna be there for whichever candidate we propel to the nom, so that part is less threatening & a known entity to the GOP. What they don’t yet know is who if anyone can *steal* from them.
@Verbalobe They didn’t waste any time smearing Biden b/c the polls and the narrative™️ convincingly told them he’s the one who could lose them enough White voters. The second the narrative definitively shifts to the next White hope candidate, this news cycle will repeat itself.
