rt-ing this one last time because all the supportive talk surrounding Apple Arcade makes me uncomfortable when, at the same time, this is happening.
also most of the commenters to what I wrote really didn’t read the entire post (or are even macOS users, so really have no clue). I even tested on computers that upgraded and this should be much more worrying than it is. this has serious repercussions to devs like myself.
like lol yeah “games are art” and “games are for everyone” only if you can afford to be here. otherwise you constantly get invalidated, told you don’t belong, abused by the “celebrity men”, undermined, and reminded that you have no place here.
it’s a constant humiliation.
if we lose the openness of the desktop, just the ability to function outside of stores where guidelines and approval processes are creatively prohibitive, then we lose work like mine or that vast part of games that’s “small but important”. experimental creation suffers the most.
It hurts the progress of the medium by making it so inaccessible.
I’m not the only dev that brought this up. If it helps, men talked about it too. I mean I link to plenty in my post.
Questioning companies like Apple under a much more critical light would be beneficial.
God bringing stuff like this up is so fucking humiliating because I get people acting like I just started yesterday and have no idea how to program or make a game or code or know what web dev is or... Emails I get are so dumb.
Read the post, this is important.
