Rainbow leaf art... a thread ......🧵
There’s a talented artist named Andy Goldsworthy. About 20 years ago I was introduced to his work while I was at the Univ. of Alabama. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Gold… ....... he’s a pretty big deal. He assembles art with thinks he finds in nature, then leaves it to be reclaimed.......🧵
He dry-stacks stone, fuses icicles, weaves twigs, tons of different things. My favorite works of his are created in the fall when he goes out and collects leaves of different colors. 🍁 🍃 🍂 Whenever I see a tree with myriad colors, I think of his art. All these = same tree..🧵
I saw this tree in Mountain View, CA while taking the boys to breakfast. I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce them to nature art. We found some stringy dead grass and made a “nest”, then laid a cone of some sort inside. They thought I was crazy at first....🧵
Then they finally started to see what dad was up to. “Ooh, we need more yellow!... and another orange!” It gradually quit being something I pulled the car over to do, and started being their idea.....🧵
I quite like what we ended up leaving on the side of the road somewhere in a suburb in California. It took about 15 minutes to teach them to see leaves as art....🧵
I hope this brought a bit of beauty to your day. It sure did for us....
