Some of the polling I've just retweeted - Tory voters thinking Corbyn did well, more people thinking Corbyn did well than Johnson - reminds me of something. It's midnight in the UK, so it's time for a little story. Are you sitting (lying down?) comfortably? Then I'll begin.
There's this thing about two successive generations having had it banged into their heads from morning til night each and every day since 1979 that "socialism doesn't work" or "there'll be bin bags and coffins in the street again like in the Winter of Discontent".
It's incredibly effective. Mindblowingly so at times. And it takes a real act of faith to step outside and see it for what it is. Garbage.

The reason I know that is because it took me a long, long time to do so myself.

I hate saying this. I don't like conspiracy theories. But I'm afraid we've reached the point now whereby this campaign of never-ending smears and instantly provable lies about Corbyn begs a rather horrible question. What's in it for the people doing it?
By whom I mean: journalists, celebrities, former Labour MPs. If I were HMRC, I'd be looking at the bank accounts and tax affairs of each and every one of them. To say that something doesn't smell right here is the understatement of the century.
Nobody anywhere lies so constantly and so recklessly without there being a motive. What is it? What do these people have to hide?

Corbyn's such a humane man that if elected, I doubt he'll even bother to find out. But remember:
