Sometimes people ask, "Why are we OK in this country with having graphic violence in our entertainment, but not nudity?" As someone who works in entertainment, I have some thoughts on that.

For my money, there are two parts to that question: "Why are we anxious about nudity in this country," and "Why are we OK with violence?" The answers are intertwined, I think, but let me talk about the nudity first.
For context, this anxiety about nudity is pretty strictly an American thing. I've been to Italy and France, and you can walk down the street in either country and see nudity on display at regular vendors' stalls. French soap commercials don't bother to hide anything.
