Whether or not there was an active investigation into Burisma at the time that Biden pushed for Shokin's firing, is an important aspect to the impeachment proceedings.

Did some research on this recently, & thought I would toss it out here for any1 interested.

Criticism welcome.

Shokin was fired for corruption, and later says 'it wasn't because I was corrupt, it was because I was investigating Burisma'... but provides no evidence, we just have to trust him (a corrupt official).

Top deputy says it was dormant.

Smells fishy already, but gets worse..

His affidavit was filed 'conveniently and coincidentally' AFTER conservatives had been making the same unfounded claim for months, and AFTER he spoke to Giuliani (through Lev Parnas, who was later arrested, and charged with illegal campaign contributions).

Gets 🐠'ier...

Shokin's affadavit also claims no accusations of corruption made be4 firing.

Is this not a blatant lie? There were tons of corruption accusations against Shokin & his office.

Unless I'm missing something, this alone destroys his credibility.

But wait there's more (🐠)..

The 2014 investigation into Burisma's owner by Shokin's office? Shokin's office sided WITH Burisma, & AGAINST anti-corruption investigators.

Despite mountains of suspicious evidence, they apparently sabotaged the investigation, resulting in 23 million returning to Burisma.

So here is what we are to believe, according to DT/RG:

Biden wanted Shokin fired for investigating Burisma, even though Shokin let Burisma off the hook, & even though Biden (+ others) wanted the PGO to be MORE aggressive against corruption.

That. makes. no. sense.

My takeaways:

- Shokin was clearly fired b/c of corruption.

- Shokin's office inexplicably sided WITH Burisma, in anti-corrup. probe.

- I'm EXTREMELY skeptical of Shokin's claim, & there's no evidence to support. Top deputy said was dormant.

- DT's story = nonsensical

Conclusion:

As I see it, if no investigation into Burisma at the time, DT technically committed an impeachable offense.

Based on what I've seen, I do not believe there was an investigation into Burisma at the time, and I dont think my position is a stretch, by any means.
