This confirms that fake court dates are agency policy in MPP, backing up reporting from @JournoGoose.

CBP told Hamed that it intentionally sends people who WIN ASYLUM back to Mexico to wait for ICE to make up its mind—and to wait months longer if ICE chooses to appeal.

Choosing to send people who win their asylum cases back to Mexico makes clear how little CBP believes their own rhetoric about protecting people with meritorious claims.

CBP is wrong as a matter of law and wrong as a matter of policy.
I think fraud is the right framing for what CBP is doing.

It is apparently the agency’s policy to fill out official government documents to say that an immigration judge told someone to return for a new hearing on X date—with full knowledge that no such thing happened.
