For a couple years now, people appearing for check-ins at the Miramar ICE office have been forced to wait outside in line for hours, with no shade, bathrooms, or water fountains.

Earlier this year, ICE banned third parties from passing out water.
Government officials from the City of Miramar have asked local ICE leadership to find some way to protect people in line from heatstroke. ICE added a few tents, but the lines quickly outgrew them.

In July, activists trying to pass out water were banned. browardpalmbeach.com/news/video-act…

Digging into these emails reveals the mindset by which the Trump administration builds its anti-immigrant propaganda.

Take this email, where Feere asks USCIS to dig up a defendant's immigration history and complains that DOJ won't mention that she was born in Pakistan.
Breitbart used to have a "Black Crime" story tag. These emails show how the Trump administration has effectively created its own "Immigrant Crime" version of that.

This confirms that fake court dates are agency policy in MPP, backing up reporting from @JournoGoose.

CBP told Hamed that it intentionally sends people who WIN ASYLUM back to Mexico to wait for ICE to make up its mind—and to wait months longer if ICE chooses to appeal.

Unreal!
Choosing to send people who win their asylum cases back to Mexico makes clear how little CBP believes their own rhetoric about protecting people with meritorious claims.

CBP is wrong as a matter of law and wrong as a matter of policy.
I think fraud is the right framing for what CBP is doing.

It is apparently the agency’s policy to fill out official government documents to say that an immigration judge told someone to return for a new hearing on X date—with full knowledge that no such thing happened.

Fascinating exchange from Justice Gorsuch in yesterday's Guerrero-Lasprilla v. Barr.

Gorsuch's skepticism here may well be explained by his own time on the 10th Circuit, where he issued a few opinions savaging the BIA.
It was a very complicated legal issue, but to me, this series of questions between Alito and Gorsuch and the SG's office suggests to me the government is at the very least going to lose on its maximalist argument about what "questions of law" mean.
After the SG's office refuses to concede on Alito's coma hypothetical and Gorsuch pushes him on it, the argument goes off the rails pretty quickly. Sotomayor, then Breyer, then Kavanaugh, then Roberts all go one after another to point out the holes in the government's argument.

Breaking #ICE news: After holding a trial, federal judge in Los Angeles rules that ICE cannot rely on patchwork of federal databases to detain people held in state and local custody, invalidating the single biggest method that ICE uses to detain people across the country.
Judge also rules that ICE cannot issue so-called "detainers" - requests to state/local jailers to hold people for ICE to pick up - in states that don't explicitly authorize their employees to cooperate with ICE. That means detainers are invalid in states like CA and NY.

I am proud to announce that I have been certified "dangerous and unprofessional" by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and I'm pleased to say that the feeling is mutual.
To be clear: the U.S. government believes it was "dangerous and unprofessional" of me to tell the story of a single mother arbitrarily detained by #ICE with no thought for her 8-year-old son, and to request support for her from my fellow citizens.

I have a problem with this.
ADDENDUM: Author requested that #ICE contact local @AILANational chapter to "share these concerns." ICE AILA liaison called later that week to inform me that #ICE believed that I was "endangering officer safety"...

...by advocating for public to call #ICE to support a client.
