The stories and tweets about the hundreds of Bevin pardons are, by and large, really bad — focused on one pardon that raises favoritism questions and giving lots of space to prosecutors noting that some others are for people convicted of violent crimes.

In a system that dramatically overcriminalizes and overpunishes, those who recognize that reality must be more careful in discussing executive branch officials who are granted and exercise the clemency authority.
