Look, I make some of the most brain-numbingly terrible dad jokes on this god forsaken website, and even I know “Commiecast” is the f*cking stupedest thing I’ve ever seen.
Two additional thoughts on "Commiecast."
1) Don't forget that Trump's mentor in the 1970s and 80s was McCarthy's right hand man, Roy Cohn.
2) This is a very popular meme in MAGA-ville. A friend of mine saw someone flying a flag with this image on their pickup.

I grew up about 45 minutes from Jimmy Stewart's hometown of Indiana, Pa. When I hear Warren's speech patterns, with her remnants of an Oklahoma drawl, I hear an authentic, progressive populism with deep roots in American history. nytimes.com/2019/12/13/pod…

TIL that in 1970, Oregon's GOP governor funded a state-sponsored rock concert called Vortex. Nixon was slated to speak at the pro-American Legion's convention in Portland on August 30. The concert was designed to divert protesters from the city. It worked. oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/vorte…

The Kent State massacre had happened in May 1970, and many people had been injured at a Portland State protest in response to Kent State. So when the word came out that Nixon and the American Legion were bringing 25,000 people to Portland, there were worries about Kent State 2.

I think this journalist got played by Tucker. Tucker believes in Tucker's bank account. Ful stop. Tucker is playing the role he needs to play right now to attract racist viewers. He's not going to break character for some Atlantic journalist. theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
I was surprised that this article used Tucker's own, right wing framing, with insufficient self-awareness. For example, using the antisemitic dog whistle term "globalist" without scare quotes stood out to me. As if "corporate globalism" is just an objective thing.
This passage also stood out. Immigration restriction and attitudes about race have always been intertwined in American history and politics. They are inseparable. There's nothing "voguish" about seeing that connection.

The first thing you need to do is get a computer. You will need a machine you own, as you'll need free reign to install things.

Next, you will need to learn HTML and CSS. You can do this for free online, but you'll need to use your machine to do practice work.
I would recommend getting an IDE like Sublimetext, as the text colors and code hints make life easier. You can use whichever one you choose to make .html files to do your practicing with.

Create a new file in your IDE and save as "somefilename.html" for practicing.

Putting on my behaviorist hat for a thread on systems survival.

Our archetypical narrative arcs tell us that the story resolves when we successfully escape the monster, defeat the corrupt government, flee the abuse, walk free of oppression.

This is where we end stories.
Our narratives lie to us.

We are not made whole when the narrative ends.
The conclusion of one lifecycle of narrative spawns the next, resolution to origin story.
As we proceed into the next cycle, we carry with us the damage, and skills, we gained in our previous cycle.
If you walked away from something that keeps people trapped in dysfunction, congratulations!
Maybe you survived your parents’ divorce. Maybe you survived them staying together. Someone cruel had power over you, in college or a job. Your marriage. A church.

Having to watch Notting Hill for tonight's gig. Haven't seen it in at least 15 years...guys....I'm 9 minutes in and I think Notting Hill might be.......terrible?
Blah blah blah, how does Hugh Grant afford a flat in Notting Hill and run a travel bookshop at a loss, yes yes, of course, that's ridiculous. But this film sucks AND blows. Gonna live tweet it to see me through.
It begins with a lengthy voiceover which is basically Hugh Grant doing bad standup. Actually, virtually all the dialogue is like bad standup. Hugh is currently telling Julia Roberts all about apricots soaked in honey so they don't taste of apricots so just buy honey lol.

The usual disclaimer applies: YMMV, my way is not the only way, everyone's journey is different. This advice is intended for new writers seeking traditional publishing. Whatever works for you is your process. Now, moving on. :)
1. The most important thing to remember about CRITICISM is that you are not your work. Gonna repeat that: YOU ARE NOT YOUR WORK. Meaning the only way to grow and function as a writer is to recognize that criticism of your work is not criticism of you as a person.
