Unpopular opinion: Is it possible to believe both that the CT editorial was long overdue & claiming ground staked out loooong ago by people of color and women and women of color AND that its publication is significant. /1
Is CT influential these days? Is any publication? ::deep sigh::

I can guarantee that if CT had run an editorial opposing Trump's impeachment, Franklin Graham and Ralph Reed would be out here heralding it. But. /2
It is important to understand the bubble within which most Fox Evangelicals live. They don't hear Trump challenged in their media. Or from their pulpits.

They may not subscribe to or read CT anymore. But they remember it in their parents' homes. /3
They remember Sunday School teachers bringing it in or seeing it in church libraries. Whatever their associations with CT, "far left" is not a descriptor that rings true.

Does the editorial change any minds? Swing any votes? Probably not. But does it give anyone pause? /4
It's not Maddow, it's not Sojourners, it's not the NYT. Christianity Today is the closest American evangelicalism has come to a house organ.

Most won't even read the editorial. But they'll hear about it and that--that might just break through the bubble. /5x
