I am reading Chris Wylie's @chrisinsilico Mindf*ck. It's a great read. So, I've said a number of times on Twitter that there is no reason to assume that Cambridge Analytica was actually working to help Ted Cruz, their official client. If you look at all the things Steve Bannon
2/ did to groom Trump to run correctly on the issues--all the Breitbart Radio interviews--it made little sense that Bannon & the Mercers wanted Cruz to win. On page 176, Wylie reports he was sued by Cambridge Analytica for poaching their secret client--DONALD TRUMP. As Wylie

4/ no interest in supporting Cruz, whom Bannon despised." Now, Cruz depended on Cambridge Analytica and CA used its time with Cruz to have AggegateIQ create the Ripon app for GOTV. Go back and read all the criticisms Cruz had about CA and the lack of support. Did Bannon & CA do
5/ a ratfuck on Cruz's campaign? Cambridge Analytica has a known history of using dirty tricks to win elections in Africa & Caribbean. Was this their dirtiest dirty trick ever? I don't know. But, my suspicion has always been--given the totality of the effort that Bannon & Milo
6/ put into promoting Trump, grooming Trump, testing his future campaign slogans like "Build the Wall" and " Drain the Swamp," to building Breitbart as the bridge to the Alt Right--that Cambridge Analytica tanked the Cruz campaign to ensure that Trump beat his only viable
7/ opponent. We may never know, but the assumption that Cambridge Analytica tried to have Cruz win, got dumped, and luckily came aboard the Trump campaign is simply not credible.
