White women base their identities off of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the other pop culture they consume. They think they own said pop culture (hello copyright). When the actual creators take said pop culture in a different direction, white women suffer narcissistic wounding.
Hollywood and the video game industry intentionally cultivated this attitude in white women in order to groom them into loyal consoomers. We saw a preview of it in 2012, when BioWare slashfic writers lost their shit because the ending of MASS EFFECT 3 sucked.
If your identity is based off of a piece of garbage pop culture, you're going to interpret every development as an affirmation (or rejection) of who you are. This is Cluster B 101. Corporations thought they could use this to make money and now it's backfiring. Reap, sow.
The other creepy side of this is that corporations intentionally infantilize white women by getting them hooked on crap that's intended for little kids. Remember that list of best-selling books of the 2010's. Half of it was young adult pablum like THE FAULT IN OUR STARS.
None of these white women mentally graduate to adulthood, as shown by their consoomer choices. They want the safe confines of children's entertainment, where everything is black-and-white, heroes win the day, and white male Christian homophobe racists get theirs in the end.
Remember when MovieBob proudly declared that he knows "Nazis" are bad because he watched Indiana Jones? White women think the exact same way he does. Their worldviews are shaped by malevolent corporations selling them cheap popcorn entertainment to make money.
