messing around in @RoamResearch is proving to be really soothing for me, and I particularly appreciate how it helps me "get unstuck" when I copy over stale todos and notes from derelict apps

the magic is in that it's so easy to just pull stuff together from everywhere
@RoamResearch there's something about the way the tree/graph structure of information very naturally invites you to fill it up. when I'm tinkering around in Roam, I feel like I'm building up to something. (I feel that way on Twitter too, and I always wished I felt that way more often)
@RoamResearch here are some of my old todos on Things app... it looks like a bunch of Work That Needs Doing, which itself is kind of tiresome and demoralizing

When I was a kid growing up, I heard many different variants of “its important to be honest, because honesty is a virtue. good men are honest. you should strive to be a good man because we respect good men (but you shouldn’t *desire* to be respected, that’s tacky...)”
Here’s how I think I frame it now:

1. the way you think & talk about things with other people easily gets cross-contaminated with the way you think & talk about things with yourself

2. if you are clear & precise in your thinking, you will be able to move faster and do more
Honesty is not really for other people (though they’ll appreciate it). It’s primarily for yourself. It’s worth being honest with other people just for the benefit of keeping your thinking clear and sharp

I know it gets messier, but nobody ever really framed it like this for me

there are several things you can do to pursue a freelance/writer-ly path, and it ultimately depends on your personality, your values, the decisions you want to make

I'll walk you through how I've come to think about it / how I'd start over
the simplest thing is just, well, "tweet 100,000 tweets". whatever it takes to get to that point, you'll figure out stuff along the way. I've bashed around in the underbrush partially to spare you the pitfalls & dead ends. still, worth mentioning anyway, because volume is 🔥
it helps a lot early on (figured this out with a couple of my alts) to have a strong sense of what your positioning is. you can change this later! I personally took a v long time bc I was adamant on "not limiting myself". but that's kind of a false idea

कभी नेनुआ टाटी पे चढ़ के रसोई के दो महीने का इंतज़ाम कर देता था, कभी खपरैल की छत पे चढ़ी लौकी महीना भर निकाल देती थी.. कभी बैसाख में दाल और भतुआ से बनाई सूखी कँहड़ोड़ी सावन भादो की सब्जी का खर्चा निकाल देती थी.. वो दिन थे जब सब्जी पे खर्चा पता तक नहीं चलता था..
देशी टमाटर और मूली जाड़े के सीजन में भौकाल के साथ आते थे लेकिन खिचड़ी आते आते उनकी इज्जत घर जमाई जैसी हो जाती थी.. तब जीडीपी का अंकगणितीय करिश्मा नहीं था, सब्जियाँ सर्वसुलभ और हर रसोई का हिस्सा थीं..
लोहे की कढ़ाई में किसी के घर रसेदार सब्जी चूरे, तो गाँव के डीह बाबा तक गमक जाती थी.. संझा को रेडियो पे चौपाल और आकाशवाणी के सुलझे हुए समाचारों से दिन रुखसत लेता था.. रातें बड़ी होती थीं.. दुआर पे कोई पुरनिया आल्हा छेड़ देता था तो मानों कोई सिनेमा चल गया हो..

Today I was thinking about what to do with my #Magic cards.

So often love of a game comes in direct conflict with dislike of playing with people who are fans of the game. This applies from everything to games like #MtG to #Overwatch #WoW #DnD AL and #pathfinder society
I'm still mad over one situation. In #DnD #LFR organized play, I playing an epic level artificer with all the warlord cheese

There was this man who constantly told me I was slow, and he was so insistent about it that he even convinced my friends at the table I was slow.
But look. I had pre-generated tables for every attack, with all normal modifiers.
I would set aside the exact number of dice before my turn, color dice coded per attack type.

I only even had dice applicable to the character. There was no die hunt
I was optimized.
