when i subscribed to a worldview wherein the daily sufferings of life were glitches or accidents to be overcome i didnt find other people or their problems interesting. after changing to a worldview wherein god cares about people i find the details of everyones lives fascinating
have mentioned this before but i think essentially all mystical paths can be divided between being the way of the stone or clam and seeking to become hard and insulated from the world or a path that revolves around tears and being open to suffering. those are the 2 options
was just thinking about this because i was around so many people the last few weeks and, before, when people told me their problems, id care of course but there was always this feeling of like... “okay... why are you telling me this though ... what am i supposed to say...?” [...]
it was a huge breakthrough for me realizing that this was partially because i had subscribed to a theological framework that viewed the mundane undulations of life to be, fundamentally, illusions, just temporary meaningless amalagamations of random things happening. distractions.
but now that i, frankly, have suffered more + have changed over to a more theological framework, im really actually genuinely interested in people and their problems in a different way, and i understand why they feel the need to connect with regards to what theyre struggling with
as this can be a very subtextual deep down under the surface part of a worldview, i wonder how much this affects others without them realizing it- everyone from people casually exposed to mystical ideas (yoga / semi new age normies) to people fully invested in varying cosmologies
