@SpeakerPelosi Why send the articles at all given that McConnell –– who's putting together the rules for the trial and essentially the chief juror –– just signed on as a cosponsor of Sen. Hawley's resolution to dismiss the whole impeachment trial altogether.

Recall, on Sep 20, after attacks on Saudi’s oil facilities, which the Trump admin and Saudi govt blamed on Iran, Trump approved the deployment of US forces to Saudi Arabia "in response to the Kingdom's request."

Pelosi is prepared to introduce a resolution next week to appoint managers and transmit Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.

If you want to know her strategy and goal these past few weeks, Schumer laid it all out.
1/ "I understand why McConnell is so frustrated,” Schumer said.


"If the Speaker had sent the Article of Impeachment over to the Senate immediately. . . Senate Republicans could have moved to dismiss the articles. There was a lot of talk about that. . ."
2/ “There wouldn’t have even been a cursory trial," Schumer said. "They might even have tried to dismiss the whole articles before Christmas.”

Instead, over the past few weeks, McConnell was prevented from doing that.

House judiciary committee chairman Jerry Nadler wrote to Donald Trump on Friday, asking if the president “intends to participate” in impeachment inquiry hearings due to begin next week.

“I look forward to your prompt response,” he wrote.
The president spent Friday at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, having returned from a surprise Thanksgiving visit to troops in Afghanistan.

He did not immediately comment or tweet. Trump has said he would like to testify in the impeachment inquiry,
