He was booked into jail on a misdemeanor charge, while still in possession of his cellphone. There's no record of proper booking procedures being done.

While in jail, he sent a text message, to let someone know where he was.

He will now serve 12 years in prison.
12 years in a cage for sending a text message. 12 years that three kids won't have their dad for answering a "wya" text.

His misstep – which wasn't even shown to be intentional – vanishes into nothingness when compared to the sins of those who willfully engage in this barbarism.
It is evil to do what the prosecutor in this case did. Not a crime, no — but a vicious, fucked up, wasteful evil.

Yet the prosecutor's name isn't even publicly reported. Who it is that locked Willie Nash in a cage for 12 years for sending a text isn't considered newsworthy.
