You want hope? Stay with me until the end. This is Jessica, Tim and Holly. For the last two days, they ran the @RedCrossMA Disaster Clinic where we trained volunteers from five states in disaster response, sheltering and deployment. 1/ 
These volunteers are just normal people who are willing to be sent to communities — Puerto Rico next — to help. All ages. All backgrounds. This isn’t your grandmothers Red Cross. 2/
No talk of politics, fly over states or Gods country. When communities are harmed, we are pretty generous people. These volunteers are why, despite my work, I’m a pretty optimistic person. 3/
I get it. Who has the time, capacity. I don’t deploy anymore. I get it. As Mother Nature bears down, the needs will become greater. Contributions help. Twitter outrage has its place. 4/
But there is something that we can all do that is pretty simple. The blood shortage is real and the demands are getting greater. So I’m using this damn website for an ask that is pressing. ⬇️ 5/
