So I managed to watch the Sat 1 documentary. I'd like to address some of the things Ron Zonen said.
He goes into this speech about why people would deny abuse until later in life. The usual talking points of shame, being afraid of being mocked by other kids, of not being believed etc.
Then he says (paraphrasing): "there's a lot of reasons why someone would deny abuse, but hardly any reason why they would admit it. To think a 10 year old would make false allegations of sexual abuse for money is absurd".
First of all, they are not 10 year olds making false allegations of sexual abuse. Wade Robson and James Safechuck are both adult men. As for Chandler and Arvizo, adults were were much involved in their allegations.
Jordan did not make any allegations until he was coerced and manipulated into making allegations by a father who was already eyeing MJ's money BEFORE his son made any allegations.
And Gavin, of course, was under the influence of a manipulative mother and the whole family had a history of grifting and even of falsely accusing people for money (ie. the JC Penney guards, George Lopez etc.).
Haters (and Zonen) love to say how the Arvizos weren't interested in money. Well, that's just another one of their many misleading statements. Here I address this claim: themichaeljacksonallegations.com/2019/06/22/the…
And Jason Francia was basically brainwashed by the police itself into making allegations with all the red flags of a improperly conducted interrogation of a child: themichaeljacksonallegations.com/2016/12/26/jas…
Jason Francia's mother, Blanca, of course was also very financially motivated in her son making allegations as they filed a lawsuit. So again, here the child was pushed by adults (a desperate police and a greedy mother) to make false allegations.
As for this argument how the fear of not being believed and being mocked may cause people not to speak out: in general that is true, but can't be applied very well to this case. First of all, in this case the media and the police was always ready to believe anyone making a claim.
In fact, they were begging for people to make a claim! They would have welcomed anyone with an open arm who made a claim! Not being believed was not as much a factor here as in other cases where people making claims got laughed out of police, or something.
As for shame and being mocked: it didn't matter if someone made a claim or denied abuse, these boys were mocked by their peers nevertheless, not least because of the prosecution's own actions!
These kids were presented by this very prosecution as having been abused, despite of them claiming otherwise! Who can forget Tom Sneddon's press conference in 1994 and other platforms when he claimed people like Brett Barnes or Macaulay Culkin were victims!
So do you think THAT did not set them up for being mocked by their peers, Mr. Zonen? Hell, Brett still gets harassed by haters, he has a whole library of fictive sexual fantasies made up about him and MJ - either in the form of message board posts by haters or books like VG's.
Or people openly speculating about how (in their own mind) Macaulay was molested. Admitting sexual abuse wouldn't have made any difference for these people in terms of being mocked.
In fact, if they had made claims, they probably would have got sympathy, but since they deny abuse, they get all these underhanded "jokes" and speculations. Not just as kids in school, but by supposed "adults" like comedians, journalists, book authors etc.
I had to laugh as Zonen said there is no reason for anyone to make false allegations of sexual abuse. Yeah, I guess if we ignore the millions of dollars someone can make of it, plus how it can make someone relevant/relatable (copyright by Wade Robson), there's really no reason.
Money is the biggest reason why people commit crimes, but this seasoned prosecutor had the nerve to sit there and basically say that there's no reason why people would make false allegations like this.
When each and every one of these accusers wanted money (yes, even the Arvizos, they just didn't manage to get there) and each and every one of the prosecution's prior bad acts "witnesses" were people cashing in with tabloids. Each and every single one of them!
There was no one in this case who walked into the police and simply reported a crime with no monetary interest whatsoever. Noone! But hey, why would people lie about this, right? I mean other than the monetary motive they ALL very obviously had. But let's just ignore that, right?
There was no case of a 10 year old simply making an allegation and his parents then reporting it to the police. You know that damn well, Ron!
Then you had Zonen stating how they NEVER had any question about Robson and Safechuck being molested. NEVER! See, that's the problem, Ron! That this was NEVER an unbiased prosecution. You just decided from the get go that MJ molested all these boys around him.
I am sure Mr. Zonen feels confirmed by his beliefs now by Robson/Safechuck's allegations but they are simply the opportunists who jump on the bandwagon that the prosecution already prepared for them. All the talking points.
Eg. like the prosecution's hung-up on the alarm. That's a 2005 prosecution talking point. They were so obsessed with the alarm that Zonen here again brings it up. And Lo and behold it is a talking point that made it into Wade and James's lawsuits as well.
Talking about the alarm, Zonen conveniently left out how the alarm helped to refute their star witness, Star Arvizo. If it was this elaborate system that MJ used to get warned while he was molesting boys, how come Star could walk in on him and Gavin TWICE undetected?
And how come that Blanca Francia could walk in on Wade and MJ?
The alarm was always this prosecution's obsession but it is an extremely fallacious argument. There're a million reasons why an international superstar would want to get a warning when someone enters his private quarters, molesting children is not the only possible answer to that
Like very understandable safety reasons. Zonen tried to dispute that by saying "but MJ was safe at NL". Well, NL was always full of guests, staff, fans. Any crazy fan could have gone to his private quarters etc.
It is a totally understandable safety measure, I never understood the big whoopla about it. Simple people protect their apartment with alarms as well, how much more justified it is for someone like MJ?
But it was a prosecution obsession and so it is now adopted by Wade and James as well. That's how you can tell it is a case of them building on prior prosecution theories and talking points.
In their case the alarm virtually should have had no significance to them, since James claims (at least in LN) he was molested all over NL, and Wade too claims a lot of the abuse happened elsewhere (even trailers at commercial sets, recording studios etc).
I have to say Dieter Wiesner did a great job in this docu. He straight up refuted Zonen's nonsense about the alarm and also Zonen's straight up lie that parents were not allowed in MJ's bedroom. Hell, Zonen's own witness, June Chandler, and also Joy Robson refute that BS.
According to Ron Zonen, MJ is the classic example of a pedophile. Except, he is not. For one, pedophiles tend to have hundreds of victims.
Zonen's argument for him being this classic pedophile was that he always had young boys around him. I guess, this is what the prosecution built their prejudicial stance on: there is no other reason why an adult man would hang out with children than to molest them.
Except this is another fallacy, of course. You can't convict someone of pedophilia just because they like the company of children. That's just nonsense.
Zonen is still a staunch believer of the Arvizo case and that's all you need to know about his incompetence as a prosecutor. At least when it comes to this case, his prejudice and bias against MJ clouded any red flag about the accusing family.
That case was just so bad, I can't even take anyone seriously who believes it. Even haters prefer to avoid discussing it because they know it is a bad case. But Zonen believes it. Tells all about him. themichaeljacksonallegations.com/the-2005-alleg…
