Just finished watching The Big Sleep, for maybe the fourth or fifth time, but the first in quite a while. What a tremendous movie.
Oh my goodness Dorothy Malone.
And oh my goodness gracious Lauren Bacall.
And how the hell is it that Sonia Darrin (née Paskowitz) strode out of the 21st century into a movie released in 1946? 
(Sonia Paskowitz is still alive and lives in my neighborhood. Which means I've got a chance!)
It's utterly preposterous that Martha Vickers as Carmen Sternwood is the fourth (or fifth?) most entrancing woman in this movie, but here we are. God, the casting in this thing is astonishing.
