Bernie's quote denying the CNN story—“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn't win."—strikes me as entirely reasonable.
Is it possible he said something that could be interpreted as carrying that broad meaning? Sure. But whether it was bad would depend on the specifics of what he said, and we don't even have an allegation as to the precise specifics of what he said.
It also seems unlikely, by the way, that this leak was orchestrated by the Warren campaign. To me it has the feel—and the sourcing—of a pretty low-level rumor.
Anyway. We don't know what was said, and we don't know who leaked it, and we don't know why what was said was said, and we don't know why whoever leaked it leaked it.
