Yes, finished watching #SacredGamesSeason2 yesterday. My review of the 'nuclear side' of the plot...

#SpoilerAlert

First up, missed the edginess of Season 1. The reason the show got my interest was an attention to detail coupled with an edgy script...
Season 1 had ended rather well indeed, I was really hoping to see how they develop the script around the plot of a mass terrorist attack on Mumbai, using a WMD - a nuclear device.

Unfortunately, the writers seem to have lost the plot and instead of focusing on...
... what could have been a nice potboiler, focussed their energy on past (and current) affairs commentary. They paired that with the 'cult' gimmick. Pretty lame.

Thus the failings when it came to the main plot are quite glaring indeed.
With some gorgeous attention to detail, I would have expected the show's creators to have thoroughly researched the science of nuclear weapons and any state investigative and disaster response to nuclear weapons/attacks/accidents.

1. I firmly thought they would stick to the...
... 'dirty bomb' route. Let's be honest here, even someone like Tom Clancy has tread very carefully when dealing with scenarios that involve nuclear weapons. At least a cursory read of 'Sum Of All Fears' at the least would be expected. It is extremely difficult...
... almost impossible in fact, for a non-state actor to get a fission nuclear weapon to work fully to it's potential, the engineering challenges are enormous. The easy, low hanging fruit, is a 'dirty bomb' when the intention is causing mayhem and triggering a conflict. If...
... you mess with real science and engineering here, you reduce the script to a farce, which is what has happened.

2. I haven't read the original book, but in an adaptation of that, there is room to make solid real world happening stick to fictional plots. I have problem...
... with Mumbai cops taking the lead in the investigation of a WMD attack. It could have been handled creatively, where the Mumbai team is given lead charge in a central govt team. Delhi seems a spectator in what is a massive crisis for a country. Writing fail again.
3. The lead actors in any nuclear emergency would be designated nuclear response teams. Every country has that. Seen 'The Peacemaker'? Quite silly to see a response team waving some Geiger counters in the air as props. With sound research, this could have been used effectively.
4. How to handle evacuation of a city etc... Again there were plenty of examples again in Hollywood and fiction. They really lost the plot on how to use this element effectively.

In conclusion, the show seems to have suffered from 'sequel syndrome'. They thought the...
... visual appeal of the show will be enough, but sadly it doesn't cut it.

Definitely a very 'B Grade' for #SacredGamesSeason2
