As a former journalist (23 yrs in media) I have never regretted leaving the profession a single day. Here's why: Throughout my career (print) I saw a fixed match between @INCIndia and media. Journos like me, covering the Right, were always considered intellectually inferior
With Congress, no questions were asked.BJP, Sena were untouchable. How can you tolerate these guys? a former editor asked me once. He was uncomfortable in meeting Gopinath Munde who visited our office once. Ditto with Raj Thackeray. I got tired of this bias and left media
Working in media communications and now media education has been learning and rewarding. It is competitive, demands high level of skills and updated knowledge, something that never happened in media. In 23 yrs, I never attended a training program in media
Journalists are the most entitled lot in India, with minimal skills. The amount of fake news peddled by them is unbelievable. Bias and spin is a daily dose. Despite exposed, very few apologise and get protected by managements. It is despicable
Trust me, not one of this lot will survive in any industry besides their own cocoons for 5 mins. Low on research and reading, all they want us - aaj kya chalana hai. Managements don't want regulation, but no self regulation too. Vicious circle indeed
Last week, people walked out of a program in Mumbai, where editor of Marathi paper Loksatta started speaking. People are upset with his relentless tirade against Hindus. He is also known to apologise to the Church for his article on Mother Teresa. I see this happening more.
