As a part of door to door campaign to earn support for #CAA2019 The leaders of Thiruvananthapuram BJP went to the house of a man named Mohanan Nair.

Before letting them into house He asked.

Nair: Is there any Brahmin in your group?

BJP: No!

BJP: Yes ..!
*Two raised their hands*

Nair: Only you two can come in!

BJP: *Hesitated*

Nair: Don't you hear me?

BJP: This is insulting. You can't make them sit outside just because they are not from a particular cast.

Nair: This is exactly what the #CitizenshipAmendmentAct is..! Indian constitution doesn't permit you to discriminate people in the basis of race colour or religion.

Equality before law The State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India Prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth
Sangh is using the permission of classification in #Article14 to state that the classification is constitutional. But they don't say what are the criteria for that classification.

#Article14 permits classification, so long as it is 'reasonable', but forbids class legislation.
A classification reasonable when

The classification is based upon intelligible differentia that distinguishes persons or things that are grouped from others that are left out of the group, and
The differential has a rational relation with the objective of the act.

Today I want to tell you the story of a man called Bhagat Singh Thind.

He was born in 1892 in colonial Punjab. In 1913 he went to the US for higher education and enlisted as a soldier for the US Army
in 1918 during the First World War. He may have been the first turbaned soldier in the US Army. His unit was called Washington Company No. 2, Development Battalion No. 1, 166th Depot Brigade.

At that time in the US, South Asians faced immense racism and discrimination.

How do you explain human rights to a society that has consistently prioritised capitalistic ideas of 'success at any cost' as the way of life, keeping money and class aspiration above any empathy for each other, or even for oneself? That's why so many don't 'get' the protests.
It's not that those in support of #CAA can't understand the opposition to it. It's because the arguments against it have the intangible ideas of morality attached. Equal rights for all is tough to explain when Indian society has ensured some people are more equal than the others.
It's the deeply entrenched conditioning of treating the house help, the drivers, waiters, watchmen as beneath you, of treating people from different regions of India as 'others', of quickly labeling people into harmful stereotypes. Religion is just one part of this broken system.

GoI says illegal immigrants will be thrown out but here they are assuring Bangladesh that it won't affect them.
So where will the people go?
They'll either be made second class citizens (no voting, property rights etc.) or put in detention camps forever.
The law will not be extended to Rohingya Muslims persecuted in Myanmar; Shia and Ahmadiyya Muslims in Pakistan; Hazaras, Tajiks and Uzbeks in Afghanistan; Tamils in Sri Lanka; and atheists in Bangladesh.

So how is it for persecuted minority & secular?

So when lakhs, maybe even crores of people inevitably fail to provide their documents, they will be forced to declare themselves as non-Muslim illegal immigrants who have come to India.
That would create a ruckus...
