TL;DR: overall, I think this article is a quite useful beginners guide

To start, I like the explanation of the terminology and concepts. Nice use of text boxes, imo

I particularly like the attention to calibration in addition to discrimination performance, and attention to importance of continued testing and updating of algorithms; algorithms are indeed high maintenance, a single “validation study” generally won’t do

here's how I view things:

- everything is labor

- work is canonized, alienated labor
capitialism's colonization of life is the creation of work out of labor
to go back a bit to the sacred jedi texts:

labor-power is bought and sold like a commodity

in capitalism, "innovation" is basically is seeking/implementing new ways to commodify labor-power, and once a new version of that process becomes accepted, it's a "real job." it's "work"

As entertaining as the whole EV thing is in some respects, I do sit back and question my own knowledge and views in the background too. A very common thing that keeps coming up in defence of EV, is phishing. I did some reading and here are a few interesting things.
Every piece of data I've looked at so far, including PhishLabs and the APWG, show that phishing is on the rise and it's a massive problem. I believe and hope that everyone will agree with that, but there are interesting stats around phishing on HTTPS.
Look at this Netcraft data on certificate issuance to phishing sites, that's quite a remarkable trend and indicates a shift of phishing sites moving from HTTP to HTTPS.

First volume of the SSCI report on the 2016 elections is released! This one deals with the Russian attacks on the election, timed for one day after Mueller. Earlier reports say that the portion that finds no collusion is due in August!

@JarradKushner Redacted version of the report. This volume focuses on the Russian effort to hack or compromise state election systems. I doubt we will find anything earth shattering unless they blame Obama for not protecting it!

@JarradKushner The very first finding confirms that no one hacked the election, no votes or tallies were changed! How are the Dems going to spin that to their base who believes otherwise so soon after the Mueller disappointment!
