First volume of the SSCI report on the 2016 elections is released! This one deals with the Russian attacks on the election, timed for one day after Mueller. Earlier reports say that the portion that finds no collusion is due in August!

@JarradKushner Redacted version of the report. This volume focuses on the Russian effort to hack or compromise state election systems. I doubt we will find anything earth shattering unless they blame Obama for not protecting it!

@JarradKushner The very first finding confirms that no one hacked the election, no votes or tallies were changed! How are the Dems going to spin that to their base who believes otherwise so soon after the Mueller disappointment!

@JarradKushner Mid-July 2016 seems a bit late to start a campaign to infiltrate state voting systems for 2016 exploitation.

@JarradKushner Oh this is interesting, State's Victoria Nuland used the OSCE election monitoring project as an excuse to not let the Russians monitor the US elections. Because Carter Page reported Spygate & Fusion GPS to OSCE (who he used to work for) for attempting to rig the 2016 election!

@JarradKushner Looks like most of the activity was basic reconnaissance work trying to find the scope of the state systems.

@JarradKushner The DHS reportedly signified "high confidence" that the Illinois attack was conducted by "Russian actors" Which means the information is more than "medium confidence" which only means it is at least slightly better than the medium "credibly sourced and plausible" level.

@JarradKushner Of course this might mean the Russians have a better estimate on how many non-citizens are registered to vote in Illinois than the US government!

@JarradKushner Past assessments make it pretty clear what the Russian intentions were, they wanted to scream that Hillary rigged the election after she won so MAGA voters would not accept her victory over Trump. They even had the memes ready on election day...

@JarradKushner See right there is is, the Russian bots were supposed to start tweeting that Hillary's victory was caused by voter fraud, which more than explains their intrusion without actually attempting to modify anything. Just undermine her victory, they were surprised when Trump won!

@JarradKushner Russian intentions, trying to undermine confidence in the election process in the US. Seems they accomplished their mission with the collusion of Democrats who duped their voters into believing the Russians hacked the election!

@JarradKushner So of course state officials were worried that the coverage would accomplish the Russian goals by making people imagine the election was compromised. Brennan seemed very worried that it would make Hillary's victor suspicious looking if everyone thought the systems were rigged!

@JarradKushner Finally got to look at the "minority views" at the bottom of the report. These are the items that only some of the committee were willing to say! A few interesting things but not as solid:

A revelation about the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. In it DHS was quoted discussing "systems observe Russian actors targeting" yet the DHS had no observable data or forensics to back up their assertion of Russians or what systems were targeted.

They also dinged DHS for asserting that it would have detected a nationwide effort to modify votes or tallies. Especially as someone would only have to make a localized attack to swing a state & it's electoral votes. Something they would probably not detect.

Another note that they distrust the reliability of the assessments because DHS & the states don't have enough data to prove much one way or the other. It is all "we assess" based on anecdotes not really knowing what happened.

These past few minority opinions seem to be casting shade on the Committee's assessment that no vote hacking occurred. But the same applies to the assessment that it was the Russians, there was so little good data & forensics done it is hard to assert anything with certainty.

Another minority view discussing the Internet Research Agency. What happens to the Dems narrative if evidence is revealed that it wasn't Putin paying for the trolls?
