The Shot Heard Round The World: some thoughts.

I’m naturally inclined to metaphor and analogy, so I looked into the original “Shot” - the start of the American Revolution

(Yes, it’s actually a 2 year delta, I was tired lol)

2/ As you likely know, this is a reference to the first exchange of fire between the Patriots and the British oppressors. They occurred at Lexington, Concord, and then most importantly: the British retreat/return march

3/ First, how fucking familiar does THIS sound?

What happened this week in Virginia?

4/ Lexington was a disorganized skirmish. Several Patriots died. Pitcairn (British) had control problems. His troops didn’t even know what their mission was.

But the Brits actually fired a victory volley & proceeded.

Impeachment in the House?

Bullet pens?

March to the Senate?

5/ But when they got to Concord, shit got real. Patriots came in droves.

Soon, the Brits had “exhausted their ammunition”... where have we heard a phrase like *that* before?

6/ Low In ammo, wounded, and emotionally shocked by their losses, the Brits began their long march back to Lexington.

This is where the PAIN really began.

And famously, it was the tactics of the Patriots that destroyed them

7/ I’ll let the accounts speak for themselves.
