I didn't expect this to happen in the Senate because I didn't think a majority of Senators would go for it. (I assumed it would come later from the House).

Raising this and having it shot down would, er, not be good.
If they couldn't get the votes to allow witnesses, it didn't occur to me that they could get the votes for a censure.

Censuring Trump without all the evidence does not mean that the Senate didn't engage in a coverup.
It also depends on how the censure is worded.

A lot depends on the wording.
The majority of the Senate in Andrew Jackson's case was angry with him, so the censure was sharply worded.
Do the @SenateGOP have the courage to do that?
