This claim, by @loubgray in today's Guardian, is unlinked. Where's the evidence for it please? There is plenty of evidence (fcrn.org.uk/sites/default/… etc) that, as a general statement and as a continuing process, it is incorrect.
@loubgray When you assess beef against other diets, as Louise does, the correct index to use is the Carbon Opportunity Cost. If we stopped eating beef, plenty of land would be released. The carbon comparison should be with rewilded ecosystems, which generally store much more carbon.

@loubgray These are crucially important issues, and we have to get them right. The unqualified claim that cattle pastures are carbon sinks is now a major element of climate science denial. Anyone who values science should question and challenge it.
