Everything we learn about this app makes the IDP's decision to use it even more baffling. Meanwhile, the IDP hasn't responded to numerous requests for answers.

Well said. As much as election interference mattered in 2016 and dominates discourse in the cyber bubble, the people who run political parties and campaigns just fundamentally don't care enough about security to make it a priority.

They could do it if they wanted to. They don't.
Iowa caucus app maker apologizes. The app was reportedly built in less than two months and not properly tested. Per @fbajak, volunteers expected to use the app only received it yesterday afternoon.
Again, the state party assured reporters that they had trained app users, but that doesn't seem to be true.
Everyone's talking about the app issues, but the phone line failure is important too. This was supposed to be the safe fallback option for anyone struggling with or uninterested in the app. Instead it seems to have tanked.
