But, as John LeCarré recently pointed out this came about with Corbyn’s Labour paving the way, leaving traditional Labour voters nowhere to go.
As Anand Menon has pointed out the Government has changed from proclaiming that Brexit is “full,of opportunities” to acknowledging that it is “a problem to be managed”.

That damn bridge again.

1.15 million tons (1.17 million tonnes) of conventional and chemical weapons known to have been dumped in the sea around Britain since WW2, a lot in and near Beauford’s Dyke.

2 tonnes of radioactive waste.

It gets worse.
Despite British Gas trying to claim the ploughing operation was nothing to do with the beached and floating bombs in Firth of Clyde and Mull of Kintyre, scientists at the Scottish Marine Laboratory said that is wrong.

Beyond reasonable doubt.

Many of the dumps never got to Beaufort’s Dyke with dumps in shallow waters a few hundred metres off shore en route to the Dyke by ships from Stranraer to Cumbria. Seamen from the dumping expeditions confirm this.

Look at the amount and type dumped over a period of decades!

Scottish salmon producers warn of 'huge' Brexit burden with added red tape 🔼 £9m on costs & delays to the departure of fresh fish.

Planned changes would require salmon farmers to have an export health cert for every consignment, signed by vet/health off bbc.com/news/uk-scotla…
She warned that could mean up to 100,000 certificates a year, with the cost estimated at up to £9m annually, depending on the fees set by councils.

Producers said that such a process would delay the departure of fresh fish, in addition to expected delays at Channel ports.
Ms Hesketh-Laird said producers were also concerned that the long-term relationship with Europe could see a 2% tariff on fresh fish rising to 13% for smoked salmon.

This rather more analytical article deals with issues of the need for scale, esp in lower cost low margin models, achievable in USA & China but less so in a market 20th the size

Also end to end production, flexibility of production
@chrismiller_uk has discussed many such issues
First market size for purely domestic production.

Then Labour costs eating into the already small margins.

Then debunking the claim of increasing Nissan production.
Do course they would have modelled it as part of a routine costed options appraisal, part of a decision making process in project planning.

Then rejected it as uneconomic.

South Africa reduced the number of models and became a large export hub.

Oh dear. Tariffs on the U.K.

Thread: There’s an insidious argument that it is automatically “un-conservative” to oppose anything that has been baked into the British political landscape for more than a couple of decades. Hence Brexit is supposedly a sign of the Tories being irresponsibly revolutionary. /1
Now, I’m the last one to disagree with the notion that this government has been (and continues to be) cavalier and irresponsible in flirting with a disruptive No Deal Brexit, which was certainly not the Brexit which I and many others campaigned and voted for. /2
But the lazy idea being bandied around by journalists, commentators and others (@sullydish has a slightly more measured take) is that Brexit is inherently un-conservative. Which sounds pleasing until you actually stop and properly think about it. /3

1. #HMG has increased risk & uncertainty for all of Europe but has not put a single document with credible solutions on the table. David Frost & Steven Barclay have got to Burssels saying we want a deal but no solutions. @BrigidLaffan
2. @BorisJohnson has just now prorogued parliament which heightens U.K. crisis & signals to EU27 that political turmoil is gripping U.K. There is no incentive for EU27 to do anything other than keep channels open. @BrigidLaffan

Brexit would make Metropolitan Elitism worse-

The Brexit vote was against our London-centric system. So if there's an economic hit because of a Brexit London voted against, Westminster would make sure the London Banking sector survived but everywhere else...
Many of the problems that pushed people to vote Brexit had nothing to do with the EU. One of those problems was the government choosing to protect the banks who caused the crash with bailouts while ordinary people just got austerity.
The rich took irresponsible risks with the country's future, but they were protected either by moving their money away or by the government and it was those with least who suffered the most.
Sound familiar? #Brexit

Jaguar Land Rover recently agreed 2 build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, same company who trashed our steel industry & emptied workers pension funds.
