Ebun House also known as ‘Petesi Anduru’ or ‘Ile Awo shi Fila’ at 85, Odunfa Street, Lagos.

Built in 1913, it was the palatial residence of the wealthy Oyo Prince and Auctioneer Andrew W.U. Thomas(1865- 1924), father of the prominent lawyer and politician Bode Thomas.
It was the first three-storey building in Lagos and was built in the Afro-Brazilian architectural style. The construction was supervised by the notable Civil Engineer/Nationalist Herbert Macaulay.
It was an imposing structure with 40 rooms, a cupola and a Rose garden. It was used to host many dignitaries visiting Lagos. Sadly, it was razed to the ground by a fire outbreak in the early 80's.

Olabode Akanbi Thomas (October 1919–23 November 1953)

Lawyer, Statesman

He was a colonial minister of the Protectorate of Nigeria & was Nigeria’s first Minister of Transportation.
He was born to the family of Andrew Thomas(1856-1924), a great grandson of Alaafin Abiodun of Oyo, who was a successful trader (property & shipping) and an auctioneer that migrated to Lagos in the late 19th Century. He built ”Ile Awo shi Fila”

Bode attended C.M.S. Grammar School, a missionary school founded by Thomas Babington Macaulay and James Pinson Labulo Davies.

Fredrick Kúmókụn Adédeji Haastrup, Ajimoko I, Owa Obokun of Ilesa from April 1896 – September 1901.

He was well into his 70s when he became Owa. He reigned for just a little over six years. He was the first Christian Oba in yorubaland.
At about the age of 14 he was captured by Ilorin slave raiders while on an errand, in a place, slightly out of town, near Oke Ibode, taken to the coast & eventually sold to a slave ship. The ship was diverted to Sierra Leone after been cornered by a British anti slavery patrol.
He became the ward of a Mr. Haastrup who was either a Danish captain or a missionary. He became Haastrup’s ward and took his name. He studied and ultimately became a licensed town planner.

So, as most folks will know by now, the album leaked yesterday. I think folks are still digesting it, and rightly so, but here's a few initial thoughts.
The remastered album sounds great. I'd like to test it on a variety of systems but on my studio monitors it's very evenly done and exactly what I expected to hear. Finally I can be comfortable dropping album tracks into a live DJ set without relying on fanmade remasters!
But... here's a hot take. In the future, I'd like to hear the tracks with a fresh mix. Some folks would abhor this - but I'll point out that doing this wouldn't replace the OG mixes. This has been done well in the past - see the 2013 Steve Albini mixes of "In Utero" by Nirvana.
