Imagine spending over an hour swiping on your phone, hoping to get a "block" that means you'll get paid for the day.

Imagine doing this first thing in the morning, at 3am, for the "privilege" of delivering packages.

That's what @Amazon Flex does. It's killing workers.

Flex makes drivers use their own cars. Drivers swipe until they get a free "block"—a window when they're guaranteed work.

But these blocks are *so* hard to get. You have to be on your phone constantly, swiping, an hour or two a day.

You don't get paid for that time.

Some drivers use bots to swipe for blocks b/c they can't do it quickly enough themselves.

Drivers are *paying to work,* sometimes up to $500 for a bot.

Let that sink in.

Drivers pay for both the hardware & software in this operation.

They use their own cars, so Amazon isn't liable for equipment, AND they pay for the right to swipe—either paying hundreds of dollars for bots or using hrs a day UNPAID to get a block.

This is the future of work.

You can see whole fleets of drivers swiping on their phones early in the morning near Amazon depots, waiting for their chance to work that day.

Meanwhile Jeff Bezos just bought California's most expensive mansion for $165 m

$165 million, for a house.

This is criminal.
