@threadreaderapp I received a response from the Nursing and Midwifery Council @nmcnews to my FOIA request about any standards they have for midwives for the correct assignment of sex at birth as this was the phrase they used in the Equality and Diversity section of their job application.
I asked:

"If midwives registered with NMC are given training in 'assigning sex at birth', please provide a copy of the
standards you require of them to carry out this critical function as I can't find them on your website."
They responded:

"Our Education and Standards Directorate has confirmed that they do not provide any such guidance."
So, either:

a) the NMC is remiss - if not derelict in their public and moral duty - in not providing standards for midwives on how to correctly assign sex at birth (which might explain why some later feel they were assigned the wrong sex at birth); or
b) the notion of 'assigning sex at birth' is a load of unscientific nonsense.

I wonder which it is?
But, given this, it's disappointing to find that @nmcnews have not changed their job application form: it still says:

"Trans is an umbrella term to describe people whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the sex they were assigned at birth"
The @nmcnews also still ask for the applicant's 'gender' despite that not being a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.
Will those at @nmcnews take note of their own Education and Standards Directorate and the Equality Act 2010 and correct the Equality and Diversity section of their job application and all other policies, documents, etc?

Please respond.
