Spelling this out: Sanders is a man who defines himself around his anger, and he attracts a lot of men who define themselves around their anger, many of whom do, in fact, use it as a license to act abusively. Like swarming someone to tell them they’re doing “being abused” wrong.
Male anger is not an innocent, apolitical phenomenon. Male anger is where most of the interpersonal and domestic violence in the world starts. People who are turned off by it aren’t frigid or damaged, they’re exercising common sense, and you can’t guilt their concerns away.
Yes, I know, not everyone who does it is a man. And yes, I know not all of his supporters do it. But the fact that mentioning an abuse history in this context has become a predictable trigger for Bernie people trying to be as awful as possible about your abuse is Exhibit A.
