The US is like a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich, where the peanut butter is capitalism, and the jelly is socialism.

If we have too much of one and not enough of the other, it's a pretty bad sandwich...hard to swallow. /1
For a while, our sandwich has been a bit too heavy on peanut butter. We've let wealth get too concentrated, corporations have way too much power, and our environment, healthcare, and social safety nets have all suffered for it. /2
We need a bit more jelly to balance it out. Single-payer healthcare, like what the rest of the civilized world has, would be a great first start.

Extremely low-cost higher education, to go along with our (mostly) free public K-12 schooling, would also help a lot. /3
What we do NOT need is to get rid of all the peanut butter or get rid of all the jelly. An extremist sandwich is going to taste worse, not better.

Balance: It's important for both PBJs and democracies. /end
